Just wrapped. Managed to unclusterfuck from yesterday and pull off some decent shots. Home by 2 then teach tomorrow…
HVX + Letus35 + rails + onboard monitor + Firestore —- all on a monopod, in the 3’x2’ corner of a bathroom, with 2 actors. B.O. was sweet.

~10 pages of script to shoot today. Staying til it’s done. Might end up teaching in these clothes tomorrow morning.
Wrapped after 13hrs. Not bad, but behind schedule. Fought some unnecessary battles, but also got the hardest shots in the can (xtras+child).
In the hotel lobby with the camera gear, waiting to be picked up by the director, listening to awful 80s music, tapping my foot. Big day.
Packing video gear for a 2-day shoot. Feeling mildly confident and, thus, likely headed straight for a cliff. See you at the bottom.
Calibrating back-focus on a Letus at home with a 3-year-old is probably not a best practice.
Heading home after production meeting. Felt thirsty, then realized I skipped lunch and dinner.
Thinking about packing up the fam and moving to Colorado.
Location permits delayed. Tomorrow’s pre-pro meeting cancelled. Short-term: Sweet. Long-term: Fuck.
Just got a pretty swank looking phishing email (supposedly) from Apple’s MobileMe support, stating that my credit card auth failed. FYI.

I assume most shallow DOF effects are faked in post, but having a keyed actor walk in/out of focus optically and *accurately* = hawt.

HD shooters: Would you avoid combo-ing a pro mist or black diffusion filter with a 35mm adapter (Letus on HVX)?
Trying to convince an Old School video DP to avoid the pro mist “crutch.” Letus already softens + Magic Bullet in post. Counter-arguments?
